Originally, the drawing was mostly about licking a 9 volt battery, something I and a lot of people did as a kid,  Belle Delphine was just the chosen ref from many girls with their tongue out. Now  Belle Delphine is big, it's more about her than battery licking. I did find battery licking a painful yet moreish experience.
